Police Arrest Four Over Killing of Edo Security Corps Operative in Edo -

The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists in connection with the killing of a personnel of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), identified as Martins Enahoro, in Ewatto, Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred at about 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following an alleged attack on the security operative by suspected members of the Aro Berger confraternity.

According to the police, Enahoro was attacked during a confrontation with the suspected cultists. In an attempt to defend himself, he allegedly stabbed one of the attackers, identified as Gbozia, while sustaining multiple cut injuries himself.

The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City.

Ikoedem said both Enahoro and Gbozia were rushed to God’s Will Hospital in Ewohimi, where they were pronounced dead by the doctor on duty. Their remains were subsequently deposited at the mortuary pending further investigation.

The police spokesperson added that four suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, with two of them allegedly confessing to being members of the Vikings and Aiye confraternities.

The suspects have reportedly been transferred to the Area Command Headquarters for further investigation, while the police continue efforts to apprehend other suspects who fled the scene.

The Command condemned the attack and warned that assaults on security personnel constitute criminal offences and would not be tolerated.

Police authorities urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist investigators in tracking down other persons allegedly involved in the incident.
