Tragedy struck in Ogun State as two persons lost their lives in a fatal road accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup vehicle along the Koto Ajala axis, inbound Owode, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, claimed the lives of a male and a female passenger who were riding on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, attributed the accident to excessive speed and loss of control by the motorcyclist.
According to eyewitness accounts, the rider reportedly lost control while descending the Koto Ajala road outbound Owode, veering into the opposite lane and crashing into an oncoming Dongfeng pickup vehicle.

“The motorcycle, bearing registration number FFF 689 HA, collided with a Dongfeng pickup marked GGE 200 KP. Sadly, the two occupants of the motorcycle died on the spot, while no other injuries were recorded,” Akinbiyi stated.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived promptly at the scene and evacuated the victims to the Fakoya Hospital morgue in Sagamu.
The damaged vehicles were subsequently towed to a nearby police station for further investigation.
Traffic flow along the route was temporarily disrupted following the crash but was later restored through coordinated efforts by TRACE and FRSC officials.
Authorities have once again urged road users, particularly motorcyclists, to adhere strictly to speed limits and maintain control while navigating busy or descending routes to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
