Authorities in Kano State have apprehended a group of individuals allegedly posing as health workers while conducting an unauthorized medical outreach in Panshekara, Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The arrest was carried out through a joint operation involving the Kano State Ministry of Health, the Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), the Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC), and the Kano State Police Command.
The action followed credible intelligence provided by vigilant residents who reported suspicious medical activities in the area.
Confirming the development, the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar, stated that officials acted swiftly upon receiving the report, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The individuals are currently in police custody at the Bompai Headquarters, where further investigations are ongoing.
According to the Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Yusuf, the suspects were operating under the name Brother Paul Legacy Foundation, claiming to be a non-governmental organization.

They allegedly distributed registration cards and collected money from unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of offering medical services.
Preliminary findings revealed that neither the suspected mastermind nor other members of the group possessed any recognized medical qualifications or certification.
The registration cards they issued reportedly promised “free treatment,” an apparent tactic to lure victims into the illegal operation.
Health authorities have warned residents to avoid seeking medical services from unlicensed individuals and to rely only on government-approved health facilities and certified professionals.
The commissioner also commended the Kano State Police Command for its prompt response and praised members of the public whose timely report led to the arrests.
He emphasized the importance of community vigilance in safeguarding public health and urged citizens to report any suspicious or illegal medical practices to the appropriate authorities.
The Kano State Government reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating quackery, protecting lives, and ensuring that healthcare services across the state remain safe, ethical, and professionally regulated.
