Residents of the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, experienced a tense atmosphere on Wednesday after clashes reportedly broke out between groups within the community.
Although reports suggested that the violence involved members of the Yoruba and Hausa communities, authorities had not officially confirmed the identities of those involved or the cause of the confrontation at the time of reporting.
To prevent the situation from escalating, security personnel from Operation Burst, Oyo State’s joint security outfit, were deployed to the area to restore peace and maintain law and order. Their presence helped strengthen security as efforts continued to calm tensions.
There were also reports that a scavengers’ depot, popularly known as “Bolla,” was set on fire during the unrest. However, officials had not verified the cause of the fire or identified those responsible.
