
Tension swept through the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday following a violent disturbance reportedly triggered by the killing of a tricycle mechanic.
According to eyewitness accounts, the unrest began after the mechanic was allegedly stabbed to death during a late-night altercation involving suspected scrap collectors.
The incident sparked outrage among local youths, leading to clashes and heightened fear across the community.
Residents reported that the situation quickly escalated, forcing several people to flee their homes over concerns of possible retaliatory attacks.

In response, security operatives, including personnel from Operation Burst, the Nigeria Police Force, and other agencies, were swiftly deployed to strategic locations within Ojoo and its environs to contain the situation and restore order.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that calm has since been restored.
“The situation in Ojoo has been brought under control, and normalcy has returned to the area,” he stated.
As of the time of filing this report, security personnel remained on ground to maintain peace and prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
