
The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from communities in Orire Local Government Area were transported to Kaduna State by helicopter.
Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka described the report as false and misleading, stating that there is no verified evidence to support the claim. According to the command, the information being shared online lacks credibility and does not reflect the facts surrounding the ongoing investigation.
The clarification comes amid growing public concern over the whereabouts of the victims, who were reportedly kidnapped from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities. Authorities stressed that security agencies remain fully engaged in efforts to secure the safe release of those abducted.
The police said rescue operations have been intensified through collaboration with other security and intelligence agencies. Officials noted that resources are being deployed to locate the victims, reunite them with their families, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The command also expressed concern over the spread of unverified information, warning that misinformation could create panic among residents and undermine ongoing security operations. It urged members of the public to rely only on updates released through official and credible sources.
