Acting on the information, operatives launched an intelligence-driven operation that led to the apprehension of three suspects identified as Akinpelu Afeez, popularly known as “Starboy,” Taiwo Adams, also called “Adamson,” and Salawudeen Taofeeq, alias “T.K.”
Investigators said preliminary findings linked the suspects to several vehicle-snatching incidents across the Ibadan metropolis. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to participating in multiple operations and admitted to using locally fabricated firearms while carrying out their activities.
Following the confessions, detectives obtained a search warrant and raided a hideout associated with the suspects in the Aremo area of Ibadan. The operation led to the recovery of two locally made single-barrel guns and six live cartridges concealed within the premises.
Police authorities stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate, as well as individuals involved in receiving and purchasing stolen vehicles.
The Command reassured residents of its determination to combat violent crime and dismantle criminal networks operating across the state. It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime.
Officials emphasized that investigations remain active and that all suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of inquiries.
