
The Taraba State Police Command has ordered a transparent investigation into the death of a police officer, Ejeh John, who reportedly sustained injuries during an arrest operation and later died while receiving medical treatment.
The Command said a suspect allegedly linked to the incident had been arrested and remained in police custody as investigations continued.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, said the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death would be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Edwin Obegheghagha, directed that the investigation be conducted professionally and objectively, with due process strictly followed.
The Command assured the deceased officer’s family, colleagues and members of the public that the matter would not be ignored. It added that anyone found to have criminal responsibility would face the full weight of the law.
The police also said it would continue to support the family of the deceased and follow appropriate welfare and administrative procedures in line with Nigeria Police Force policies.
