
The Kano State Police Command has arrested eight suspects during separate operations targeting drug abuse and alleged thuggery in parts of the state.
The operations, conducted on Wednesday, September 9, involved personnel from the Panshekara and Kunchi/Ghari police divisions following intelligence provided by members of the public.
Police said eight suspects were intercepted at a suspected black spot in Panshekara around 2:30pm. A search reportedly led to the recovery of 15 Pregabalin capsules, five Diazepam tablets, 10 Exol tablets and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

In a separate raid at Matanfada Market, Kunchi/Ghari Division, five other suspects were arrested over alleged intimidation of traders and residents.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, while the command says it will intensify its fight against drug abuse, thuggery and other violent crimes across Kano State.
The police also commended residents, community leaders and vigilante groups for providing information that assisted the operations.
