A kidnapping survivor in Kwara State, Abdullahi Abdulazeez, has narrated his harrowing experience in captivity, alleging that bandits demanded another ransom after claiming that a person who collected an earlier payment had fled with the money.
Abdulazeez was reportedly abducted alongside his younger brother and two workers while travelling to their farm around the Babanla area near Oke-Ode in Kwara State.
The victims were taken into the forest, where they spent nearly two months and 12 days before eventually regaining their freedom.
According to Abdulazeez, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦400 million from his family. Following negotiations, his relatives reportedly raised millions of naira in several payments in an effort to secure the release of the captives.
However, after receiving an earlier payment, the bandits allegedly told the family that the person assigned to collect the ransom had disappeared with the money. The kidnappers subsequently demanded another payment, insisting that the money had not reached them.
Abdulazeez said the development placed additional pressure on his family, who had already struggled to raise funds for the ransom.

The survivor also alleged that the kidnappers demanded food supplies and drugs while the victims remained in captivity. He said the captives endured harsh conditions, threats and physical assault during their time in the forest.
After their eventual release, Abdulazeez and the other victims were said to have been weak and exhausted. They reportedly trekked through the bush before reaching a location where they received assistance.
The incident has again drawn attention to concerns over kidnapping and insecurity in parts of Kwara State, as residents continue to call for stronger measures to protect communities from armed criminal groups.
