Nigerian singer Spyro has intensified his criticism of influential pastors and public figures over their silence on the worsening insecurity in the country, declaring that any pastor who refuses to speak out at a time like this is “part of the system.”
Speaking emotionally during an Instagram Live session, the singer lamented the growing fear among Nigerians, noting that many people are now afraid to travel because of the rising cases of kidnappings and violent attacks across major routes in the country.
Spyro said the disturbing state of the nation has left many traumatised, revealing that videos of violence, abductions, and kidnapped children have affected him deeply and even made it difficult for him to sleep.

Referencing recent incidents involving abducted children and victims of brutal attacks, the singer questioned why many influential church leaders have remained silent despite the pain ordinary Nigerians are facing daily.
According to him, pastors are not just spiritual leaders but also voices of influence who should speak up during moments of national crisis rather than remain quiet.
“I always defend the church,” Spyro said, adding that this is the time for difficult but necessary conversations. He argued that the silence of influential pastors and celebrities reflects comfort and convenience while citizens continue to suffer.
The singer further stated that if prominent pastors had family members affected by kidnappings or insecurity, churches across the country would likely mobilise immediately. He questioned why the same urgency is not being used to advocate for Nigerians currently living in fear.
