Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has criticized the low online attention given to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, saying the incident deserves more public outcry.
In a video shared on social media, the singer said she only became aware of the kidnappings after seeing a post by fellow artist Spyro. She expressed surprise that the story was not trending, despite its severity.
“This kidnapping incident that happened in Oyo State, I’m just seeing it lately after Spyro’s post came up. The issue is not trending enough as it should,” Tiwa Savage said.
She added that she had to contact several people to understand what happened because the matter was not appearing on her timeline. According to her, the abduction reportedly occurred almost two weeks earlier but had not gained wide visibility online.
