An abducted Fulani herdsman, Yahaya Sulaiman, has regained his freedom in Ijebu Jesa, Osun State, after his captors collected an undisclosed ransom, while police have arrested one suspect in connection with the crime.
Sulaiman was kidnapped around 9 pm on Monday by gunmen who later demanded N70 million for his release. A source in Ijebu Jesa told The PUNCH that the herdsman appeared to have been targeted, with the gunmen reportedly asking a resident for his whereabouts before abducting him and taking him to an unknown location.
Providing an update on Friday, another security source said Sulaiman was released on Thursday after the abductors received a huge ransom. One of the suspects was arrested during the operation and found with firearms and ammunition. He has since been transferred to the police in Osogbo.
