President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the Federal Government is taking decisive steps to secure the release of pupils, students, and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oyo State.
The President gave this assurance following the tragic attack on Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area, where armed bandits invaded multiple schools, including Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School, abducting several victims.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the incident, particularly the reported killing of one of the kidnapped teachers, which he described as “barbaric and unacceptable.”
“I am deeply saddened by this unfortunate development. My thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time,” the President stated.
He also commended the swift response of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and praised security agencies for their prompt intervention.

According to him, the Federal Government is working in close collaboration with state authorities to ensure all victims are rescued safely.
President Tinubu further disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police is personally leading a technology-driven operation aimed at tracking down the perpetrators and securing the release of those still in captivity.
“We expect a breakthrough soon. The bandits and their collaborators will be identified and brought to justice,” he assured.
The President emphasized that the recurring cases of kidnapping highlight the urgent need for the establishment of state police to strengthen security, especially in underserved communities.
He called on the National Assembly to fast-track the legislative process required to make state policing a reality in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified search-and-rescue operations, with ongoing efforts focused on ensuring the safe return of all abducted victims.
