
The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued a 26-year-old woman who was abducted in Owo, following a coordinated security operation that led to the arrest of four suspects linked to the crime.
The victim, identified as Ogechi John, was reportedly kidnapped on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Gozako Filling Station along the Emure–Akure Expressway.
According to police sources, the assailants arrived in an ash-coloured, unregistered Toyota Camry before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the command swiftly launched a joint operation involving Amotekun operatives, local hunters, and vigilante groups immediately after receiving the distress report.
As part of the rescue effort, security operatives secured strategic entry and exit points across Owo and neighboring communities while conducting intensive searches of surrounding bushes and possible escape routes.
The breakthrough came when the suspected getaway vehicle was discovered abandoned in a bush at Ojana, Owo.
Acting on intelligence gathered during the operation, three suspects were initially arrested in possession of a lady’s motorcycle believed to be connected to the incident.

A fourth suspect was later apprehended.
The suspects have been identified as Friday Shola (27), Friday Monday (21), Osho Joseph (24), and Lawal Mariam.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects allegedly confessed that the abandoned vehicle had been handed over to a herbalist, identified as Lawal Lucky, who is currently on the run.
The police confirmed that sustained operational pressure and intelligence-driven strategies eventually led to the safe rescue of the victim, who is now receiving appropriate care and support.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the swift response and professionalism displayed by the operatives, emphasizing the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents.
He further urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to assist security agencies, assuring that efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects and bring all those involved to justice.
Investigations into the incident are still in progress.
