Four people, including a forest guard, have lost their lives after suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Zah community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The deadly assault reportedly occurred on Monday evening when the gunmen rode into the community on motorcycles and opened fire on residents. During the attack, several houses were set ablaze, forcing many villagers to flee for safety.
Zah, located in Yadul District, has experienced repeated attacks in recent years because of its proximity to the Sambisa Forest, a known hideout for insurgent groups.
Apart from the four fatalities, the attackers reportedly abducted a middle-aged woman before security personnel arrived at the scene. A fierce exchange of gunfire followed, eventually forcing the terrorists to retreat from the community.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Aliyu Saad Yerima Hong, said additional security operatives had been deployed to restore peace and strengthen security in the affected area.
He appealed to residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities.
The council chairman also praised the swift response of security personnel, noting that their intervention helped prevent the attack from causing even greater loss of life and destruction.
Security forces are continuing efforts to secure the area and prevent further attacks as residents begin assessing the damage caused by the assault.
