
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected gang members during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas of the state.
The operation, carried out on May 31, 2026, was led by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in collaboration with other tactical units following directives from the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects are believed to be members of the notorious Shilla gang, a group allegedly linked to robbery, violent attacks, and other criminal activities within the state capital and its environs.

The arrested suspects were identified as Aliyu Idris, Mukhtar Abubakar, Amir Dan Asabe, Joel Timothy, Isaac Isah, Hassan Salisu, Nyon Ayuba, Saidu Musa, Adamu Yau, Adamu Muhammed, and Nasiru Bala.
Police investigations reportedly connected the suspects to acts of gangsterism, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and the consumption and distribution of illicit drugs.
During the raid, security operatives recovered several weapons, including knives, daggers, machetes, and cutlasses, which authorities said were allegedly used in carrying out criminal operations.
The police command said investigations are ongoing and assured residents that efforts to combat crime and dismantle criminal networks across Adamawa State would continue.
