Makama disclosed that one of the hunters accidentally stepped on a primed Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube inside the gun truck, triggering a partial explosion.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including a serious fracture to his left leg, and was immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. However, he later succumbed to the injuries.
The incident underscores the dangers associated with joint security operations in conflict-prone areas, where military personnel and local vigilante groups often collaborate in counter-insurgency efforts.
