The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on violent crime, arresting three suspected criminals including two alleged members of the notorious Shilla gang in coordinated operations across Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya, the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the ongoing effort to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
One of the suspects, identified as 22-year-old Abdulmalik Mohammed from the Zango area, was apprehended on June 12 following an alleged attack on a passenger aboard a commercial tricycle along the Doubeli Bye-Pass.
Armed with a cutlass, Mohammed reportedly robbed the victim of a mobile phone before being intercepted by vigilant residents.
The suspect narrowly escaped mob justice after members of the public subdued him. Police operatives from the Doubeli Divisional Headquarters intervened promptly, taking him into custody.

In a separate operation carried out on June 14, police officers on routine patrol arrested two additional suspects 17-year-old Abba Abdullahi and 16-year-old Abdulrahman Saidu both believed to be affiliated with the Shilla gang.
The duo was allegedly found in possession of dangerous knives, suspected to have been intended for use in criminal activities at a birthday gathering.
Commending the operatives for their swift and professional response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating gang-related violence and ensuring public safety.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information, assuring that all reports would be handled with strict confidentiality.
The police reiterated their determination to dismantle the Shilla gang and other criminal elements threatening peace and security across Adamawa State.
