The Anambra State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the death of a 25-year-old female student whose body was discovered in Onitsha under circumstances suspected to be suicide.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on June 18, 2026, has sparked widespread concern following the circulation of a video showing residents gathered at the scene.
According to police authorities, a handwritten note believed to have been left by the deceased was recovered during preliminary investigations.
While the identity of the student remains undisclosed, officials say the contents of the note point to emotional distress linked to a troubled relationship.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed deep concern over the growing rate of disturbing social incidents, particularly among young people.
