
The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a pregnant teenager and arrested a suspect during an operation in Achalla, Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the operation was carried out following intelligence reports on suspected criminal activities in the area. During the raid, officers rescued the teenager and took a suspect into custody for further investigation.
According to the police, preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been subjected to exploitation in different communities within the state. She has since been placed under protective care and received medical attention.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Authorities are also working to identify other individuals who may be connected to the case.
