
Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have successfully intercepted a stolen vehicle and apprehended a suspect in Takai Local Government Area, following a swift intelligence-driven operation.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the breakthrough came after authorities received a distress call reporting the theft of a silver Pontiac Vibe with registration number KMC 928 LK in Kaduna State.
The vehicle was reportedly heading towards Kano.
Acting promptly on directives from the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, divisional officers in border areas were mobilised to track and intercept the vehicle.
As part of the operation, officers at the Takai Division mounted a strategic checkpoint along a major highway.
The suspect, identified as Christian Ikwumesi, 38, from Edo State, was intercepted while driving the stolen vehicle and was immediately arrested.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that the vehicle had indeed been stolen from Kaduna.
The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kano for further investigation aimed at uncovering possible accomplices and dismantling the wider criminal network.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, the Command recorded another major success in its fight against drug trafficking. Police operatives in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area arrested a suspected drug peddler identified as Umaru, also known as Jalo.
He was reportedly caught offloading eighteen sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa into his residence.
A search conducted at the premises led to the recovery of 879 parcels of the suspected substance.
Authorities confirmed that the arrest followed credible intelligence and ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug-related activities across the state.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
