
A joint security operation involving the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully rescued 14 individuals abducted by sea pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.
According to a statement issued by the police, the victims were freed following a series of intelligence-led operations and coordinated tactical interventions targeting criminal networks operating within the maritime corridor.
The operation, driven by credible intelligence, saw security operatives intensify surveillance and execute targeted raids across identified hotspots, ultimately leading to the safe recovery of all victims without injury.

Authorities confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical checks and debriefing procedures.
They are expected to be reunited with their families after necessary evaluations are completed.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the collaborative effort between the police and EFCC, describing the mission’s success as a clear example of effective inter-agency synergy and intelligence-driven policing.
Security agencies have also reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the abduction, with a commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
