The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected tricycle robbers and recovered a stolen tricycle in a major breakthrough against a growing wave of keke-related crimes in the state.
The suspects, identified as Usman Ashiru, 26, of Rijiyar Lemo, and Abubakar Ali, 28, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Dala Police Division.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects allegedly lured a 22-year-old tricycle rider, Abdulrahman Atula, from Kawo Hotoro on July 21, 2026.
The victim was reportedly drugged and dispossessed of his tricycle at gunpoint.
Police operatives successfully recovered the stolen tricycle, bearing registration number AJG 170 VC and KAROTA number NSR 0709.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano.
Further investigations revealed that the suspects may be part of a larger criminal network.
At least ten other tricycle operators have reportedly come forward, identifying the suspects as responsible for similar robberies carried out in Dorayi and Bachirawa areas using the same method.
The Police Command has urged victims of similar incidents to report to the Dala Police Division or contact authorities to aid ongoing investigations.
Kiyawa confirmed that efforts are underway to arrest other members of the gang and recover additional stolen property. He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
