The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and distribution of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps disclosed that preliminary investigations linked the soldier to the unlawful activities after he absconded from his unit.
The statement was signed by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko.
According to the Army, Amutu, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, reportedly deserted his duty post on June 3, 2026, raising suspicion and prompting further investigation into his activities.
“Following initial findings, he has been declared wanted by the appropriate military authorities. Efforts are currently underway to track him down and ensure he faces a full investigation and necessary disciplinary actions in line with military laws,” the statement read.

The Army emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and any actions capable of jeopardizing national security, warning that personnel involved in aiding terrorists through unauthorized sale or diversion of military materials would face severe consequences under both military and civil laws.
It also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in the arrest of the suspect, urging anyone with useful details to report to the nearest military formation or security agency.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and accountability, the Nigerian Army assured Nigerians that it remains dedicated to safeguarding military assets and strengthening internal control mechanisms to prevent such incidents.
