The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of providing information to kidnappers involved in a recent attack in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Idi Riga from Gwanar Dutse Village and 22-year-old Murtala Sani of Rifta Unguwan Jauro Musa in Gobirawo Ward, were apprehended on August 2, 2026, during a targeted police operation.
Their arrest followed a violent incident on July 31, when unidentified gunmen stormed the residence of a 46-year-old man in Gwanar Dutse Village, Gwana District.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh while attempting to escape and is currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Kashere.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, operatives from the Gobirawo Out-Station carried out the arrests after intelligence-led investigations linked the suspects to the attackers.

Preliminary findings indicate that both suspects allegedly confessed to acting as informants for the criminal group.
The suspects are currently in custody, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities.
