The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that young people in the Nyanya area of Abuja have been selling their kidneys for money.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, made the clarification in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to Adeh, the police neither received nor confirmed any report concerning the alleged kidney sales. She also denied claims that an agent operating in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, was allegedly purchasing kidneys from young people in the area.
“The Police Command in the FCT wishes to categorically state that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such nature,” Adeh said.

She stressed that no statement or official communication had been issued by the command confirming the allegation.
The police spokesperson urged members of the public to disregard the circulating reports and avoid sharing unverified information capable of creating fear, panic and apprehension among residents.
However, the command encouraged anyone with credible information concerning alleged human organ trafficking or other security concerns within the FCT to report promptly to the nearest police station or contact the command through 07038979348 or 08028940883.
The police reaffirmed the importance of verifying sensitive security information through official channels before sharing it with the public.
