Not fewer than 150 terrorist commanders, fighters and affiliates have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East, following intensified military operations against terrorist groups in the region.
The development represents a significant increase from the more than 50 surrenders recorded during the previous reporting week.
The Joint Task Force North-East attributed the rise in surrender cases to sustained military pressure, intelligence-driven operations and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic measures targeting terrorist networks.
According to the task force, the growing number of individuals abandoning the groups indicates increasing pressure on their ability to move freely, access logistics and sustain fighters within their enclaves.
The military also disclosed that weapons and ammunition recovered from some of those who surrendered could provide valuable intelligence on terrorist capabilities, structures and support networks.
Operation Hadin Kai has continued to combine combat operations with strategic communication and civil-military engagement aimed at encouraging members of terrorist organisations to disengage.
The Theatre Command said individuals who surrender are profiled and documented before being handled in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws.

The military said the latest wave of surrenders could further disrupt terrorist recruitment and supply mechanisms while encouraging other fighters and affiliates to abandon the groups.
The Military High Command commended troops for their resilience and operational effectiveness, urging them to maintain pressure and continue denying terrorist elements freedom of action across the theatre.
It added that the surrender of fighters would complement ongoing military operations aimed at weakening terrorist networks, protecting civilians and creating conditions for lasting peace and socio-economic recovery across the North-East.
