The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old home lesson teacher, Daniel Erumudonmoh Okhuilegbe, over the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, disclosed this on Friday, saying the suspect was arrested after the command received a report concerning the alleged abuse of his student.
According to Daaor, Okhuilegbe was employed as a private home lesson teacher but allegedly violated the trust placed in him by sexually assaulting the child.
He said police operatives responded swiftly to the report, mobilised to the area and arrested the suspect.
The commissioner also disclosed that another 42-year-old man was arrested in Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.

In a separate case in Benin City, police arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Samson Amachie for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl in the Okhoro area.
Daaor alleged that Amachie lured the child to an uncompleted building behind his shop, where he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
The police commissioner assured that investigations would be conducted and that the suspects would be prosecuted in court upon the conclusion of the investigations.
The cases remain allegations, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
