
The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has destroyed two cannabis farms with an estimated yield of 4,628.9 kilogrammes and arrested 10 suspected drug traffickers in separate operations across the state.
The state NDLEA Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this on Monday, saying the operations were carried out based on credible intelligence.
According to him, one of the cannabis farms was located at Ugboku, Igbanke Forest, in Orhionmwon Local Government Area. The farm measured about 0.70 hectares and had an estimated yield of 1,749.26 kilogrammes of cannabis.
A 40-year-old suspect, Agholor Elebojie, was arrested in connection with the farm.
The second plantation, measuring approximately 1.15 hectares, was also destroyed. It had an estimated yield of 2,879.72 kilogrammes of cannabis, while two bags containing 12.4 kilogrammes of processed cannabis were recovered.
The commander said the operations were part of the agency’s renewed efforts to dismantle illicit drug production and distribution networks across the country.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers raided suspected drug hotspots at Oluku in Ovia North-East Local Government Area and Abuja Quarters in Oredo Local Government Area of Benin City.

The raids resulted in the arrest of 10 male suspects and the recovery of various illicit substances.
At Oluku, a 28-year-old suspect, Kingsley Anigala, was arrested with 25.857 kilogrammes of cannabis and 93 grammes of methamphetamine.
Nine other suspects were arrested at Abuja Quarters, where officers recovered cannabis, Loud, Tramadol, Diazepam, Swinol, Danabol and methamphetamine.
The NDLEA said all the suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing ahead of their prosecution.
