Operatives of the have successfully rescued four individuals who were abducted along the Lagos/Benin Expressway in a late-night attack.
The rescue was confirmed in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, who disclosed that the victims were kidnapped on July 30, 2026, at about 10:40 p.m. by armed men disguised in vigilante uniforms.
According to the statement, the attackers blocked the Ugbokun axis, near a military checkpoint, using logs of wood and leaves before launching an assault on unsuspecting motorists. Several occupants were forcefully taken into a nearby forest during the operation.
Following a distress report, the Divisional Police Officer of Okada Division swiftly mobilised a joint security team comprising police operatives, members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and local hunters.

The team immediately launched an aggressive bush-combing operation, supported by drone surveillance technology.
The sustained pressure from the security forces forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee. The rescued victims—Muritala Babatunde, Bello Aminat, Otor Prince, and Yeiyah Gift—were found unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.
The Police Command commended the courage, professionalism, and collaboration displayed by all personnel involved in the operation. Authorities also reassured residents of ongoing efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and clamp down on kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
