Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has regained his freedom after spending eight days in captivity following his abduction from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the judge’s release in a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman. According to the statement, Justice Bunza was released on August 3, with his freedom confirmed by both his family and the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice.
The police disclosed that the kidnappers demanded a ransom during the period of captivity but reiterated the command’s firm stance against the payment of ransom.
Security agencies, the statement added, have intensified efforts to identify and arrest those behind the abduction. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities determined to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice.

The command appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist the investigation, assuring residents that any information received would be handled confidentially.
The police also commended residents and other security agencies for their cooperation throughout the operation, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kebbi State.
