The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Awomehinde Tope, in connection with a theft case that led to the discovery of items suspected to be human bones in Ile-Oluji area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the suspect was apprehended on April 11, 2026, following a complaint filed by his father, Awomehinde Kehinde, who accused him of stealing several valuables.
Items reportedly stolen include three Boxer Bajaj motorcycles, nine goats, quantities of palm oil, four Android phones, two gas cylinders, gold items, and rugs.
Police investigations revealed that one of the stolen rugs had been sold, prompting further inquiry and a search of the suspect’s residence.
During the operation, officers recovered items believed to be of ritualistic significance.
Recovered exhibits include a piece of bone suspected to be human skeletal remains, two native sponges, fetish charms, black soap, and an expended AK-47 ammunition shell. Authorities confirmed that the bone will undergo forensic examination to determine its origin.
