Police Arrest Four Suspects, Recover Stolen Goat, ₦1.5m Building Materials in Yobe -

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with separate cases involving theft, assault, and criminal conspiracy, while also recovering stolen items including a goat and building materials worth millions of naira.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the first incident occurred on August 2, 2026, at about 3:30 p.m. at the ‘A’ Division in Damaturu. A 35-year-old suspect allegedly stole a goat from the Sunday Market in Damaturu.

While attempting to flee, an 80-year-old accomplice reportedly assaulted the complainant with a stick, causing injuries to the back of his head. Police operatives responded swiftly, arresting both suspects and recovering the stolen goat as well as the stick used in the attack. Investigations into the case are ongoing.

In a separate development, the Command revealed that on August 1, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m., a case of criminal conspiracy and theft involving building materials valued at approximately ₦2.5 million was reported to the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives launched an operation that led to the recovery of building materials worth about ₦1.5 million. Three suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of the stolen items, allegedly receiving and dealing in the materials.

The recovered items have been secured as exhibits, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining materials.

The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has directed that thorough investigations be carried out in both cases and that all suspects found culpable be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid ongoing security operations.
