Troops of Sector 1 under Operation Whirl Stroke have destroyed a suspected terrorist hideout and arrested five suspects during a coordinated security operation in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The operation, carried out on August 1, followed intelligence reports on the activities of suspected criminal elements in the area. Security personnel raided identified hideouts in Atombagen, Chito, Tse Kighr, Tse Anaka and Sabongida Leke communities.
Although the suspected terrorists reportedly fled before the troops arrived, the operation continued, leading to the arrest of five individuals at Sabongida Leke over their alleged links to criminal activities.

During the raid, troops dismantled the suspected terrorist camp and destroyed structures believed to have been used as operational bases and support facilities by the armed group.
The clearance mission forms part of the military’s ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks, eliminate their hideouts and disrupt logistics supporting armed groups operating across parts of Benue State.
The arrested suspects remain in military custody and are expected to undergo further investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network operating in the area.
