
The Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects, including an 80-year-old man, in connection with the killing of the state Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Risku Mohammed.
Alhaji Mohammed was reportedly killed on June 26, 2026, alongside his associate, Yakubu Isah, by unknown gunmen.
The incident occurred around Okukwu in Otukpo Local Government Area while they were returning from a peace meeting held in Ohinmini LGA.
Following the initial incident, the police had earlier confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects linked to the killing. In a new development, the Command disclosed that seven more individuals have been apprehended through ongoing intelligence-driven operations.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Udeme Edet, made this known in a statement released in Makurdi.
According to her, the arrests were the result of sustained intelligence gathering, detailed investigations, and continuous tactical operations by security operatives.

The newly arrested suspects were identified as Chief Morgan Ejaga (43), Chief Moses Anteyi (45), Chief John Ogli (58), Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49), Sylvester Ajonye (80), Aba Alexander Uloko (59), and Fidelis Iduma (45).
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the dedication and professionalism of the officers involved in the investigation.
He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure that all individuals connected to the crime are brought to justice.
The Commissioner further urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information that could aid the investigation.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring justice for the victims, and maintaining peace across Benue State.
