
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected cultist and recovered a locally fabricated pistol along with ammunition in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The arrest was reportedly carried out on June 22 at about 7:10 p.m. during a routine security operation conducted by troops under Sector 1 of OPWS.
According to security sources, the suspect was apprehended following credible intelligence linking him to cult-related activities contributing to insecurity in the area.
Items recovered from the suspect include one locally made pistol, two cartridges, and a bag containing personal belongings.

The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue to determine the extent of his involvement and to identify possible accomplices.
Security authorities noted that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat cultism and other criminal activities across Benue State and its environs.
They further emphasized that Operation Whirl Stroke has intensified patrols and intelligence-driven operations aimed at restoring peace and enhancing security within its area of responsibility.
