
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected miscreants during a coordinated overnight security operation aimed at restoring law and order across the state capital.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the arrests were made in the early hours of April 14 during an intelligence-led raid on identified criminal hideouts and black spots within the Katsina metropolis.
According to him, the operation was spearheaded by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit and targeted groups allegedly involved in public disturbances and other unlawful activities.
Items recovered from the suspects include live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a knife, sticks, a saw, and six mobile phones suspected to be stolen.
The police also seized substances believed to be Indian hemp, 500 Exol tablets, and a pair of military camouflage shirts.

The police spokesperson confirmed that all 26 suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the operatives for the successful raid, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage, reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements in the state.
He further urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to enhance crime prevention and ensure public safety.
The arrests come on the same day Governor Dikko Radda signed an executive order banning thuggery activities, including Kauraye and Sara-suka, across the Katsina metropolis.
