The Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos has dismissed reports suggesting tension within its facility over an alleged terrorist plot to abduct medical personnel.
In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the hospital management clarified that the facility remains safe and fully operational, with all clinical services running without disruption.
According to the statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Talatu Achan Angi, the information circulating on social media stemmed from an internal memo that was misinterpreted.
“The circular referenced in the report was strictly an internal communication and part of routine security briefings issued to staff,” the statement read.
“It was intended to encourage vigilance and caution in the course of their daily duties, especially in light of prevailing security concerns.”
The management firmly denied claims of unrest, stressing that both staff and patients are going about their normal activities.
“There is no form of tension within the hospital. Staff and patients are carrying out their normal activities, and all clinical services are proceeding without disruption,” it added.

The hospital also urged the public to disregard what it described as misleading and sensational reports capable of creating unnecessary panic.
“The management, therefore, urges members of the public to disregard any misleading or sensational information capable of destabilising the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state,” the statement noted.
Reassuring residents, the hospital emphasized its commitment to delivering quality healthcare services and encouraged patients to continue seeking medical attention without fear.
“The hospital remains safe, fully operational, and committed to providing quality healthcare services,” the statement added.
Earlier, a leaked internal memo dated April 13, 2026, had raised concerns over an alleged plan by bandits and terrorist groups to abduct healthcare workers to treat injured members.
The memo indicated that intelligence reports suggested a possible shift in tactics by such groups, targeting doctors, nurses, and other health workers, particularly in frontline states, including Plateau.
It further advised health institutions to heighten vigilance and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The circulation of the memo on social media had sparked anxiety and led to reports of tension at the state-owned hospital, which management has now dismissed.
