The Regional Leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has raised alarm over an alleged death threat issued against him and members of his congregation following a recent deadly attack in Plateau State.
In a statement shared on Friday, the cleric revealed that suspected terrorists sent a letter warning that he would soon be targeted and killed. According to him, the message—written in both Hausa and English—was also directed at members of his church.
Rev. Dachomo disclosed that copies of the threatening letter have already been submitted to security agencies for investigation.
The development comes just days after a tragic incident in which nine individuals were killed during an attack on communities in Riyom Local Government Area.
The pastor claimed that the victims included members of his own extended family, although this has not been independently verified.
Despite the threat to his life, the cleric maintained that he remains resolute and unafraid.
“I am not afraid because my life is in the hands of God,” he stated, expressing strong faith amid the tension.
He recounted the emotional toll of the recent violence, describing the pain of burying loved ones and comforting grieving families affected by the attacks. According to him, many victims were innocent civilians caught in a cycle of violence that continues to plague parts of the state.

Rev. Dachomo also questioned why his advocacy for vulnerable groups—such as widows, orphans, and persecuted Christians—should attract hostility.
“If speaking for the voiceless is considered a crime, then I will continue to do so,” he said.
The cleric called on both national and international communities not to ignore the plight of victims in Plateau State, urging sustained attention, prayers, and demand for justice.
He emphasized that while threats may silence individuals, they cannot suppress the truth.
“They may kill the messenger, but the message will remain,” he added.
The recent attack reportedly occurred late at night, with gunmen storming affected communities and opening fire on residents.
Casualties included multiple members of a single family, while others sustained serious injuries.
Rev. Dachomo, known for his outspoken stance on humanitarian issues in Plateau, has continued to advocate for justice and support for affected communities despite the risks.
He concluded by stating that if anything were to happen to him, he should be remembered as someone who stood for truth and justice without resorting to violence.
