The Firm Officials and Some Police Officers
A pharmaceutical company, Patricklingo Pharmaceuticals, has donated essential medicines to the Imo State Police Command, drawing attention to the growing health challenges faced by security personnel.
The donation was made during a medical outreach held on Wednesday at the police command headquarters in Owerri.
The initiative aimed to address healthcare gaps among officers, many of whom face job-related stress and limited access to regular medical care.
Speaking during the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Patrick Onwuelingo, said the outreach was prompted by alarming health statistics within the police force.
He referenced a 2025 report by The Nigerian Health Journal, which revealed that nearly half of police personnel suffer from hypertension a condition largely attributed to the pressures of insecurity and the demanding nature of their duties.
Onwuelingo emphasized that police officers, beyond their responsibilities, are individuals exposed to intense physical and psychological strain, making their health a critical priority.
“Healthcare should not be a luxury, especially for those who dedicate their lives to public safety,” he said.
He added that the donated medicines were carefully selected to address the most common health conditions affecting officers, noting that the initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to community-based healthcare interventions.

The CEO also expressed optimism that the outreach would pave the way for sustained partnerships between the private sector and public institutions in improving health outcomes.
Receiving the donation, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, commended the gesture, stating that the operational effectiveness of the police force is closely linked to the physical and mental well-being of its personnel.
He noted that the support would significantly enhance officers’ capacity to perform their duties and called on other organizations to emulate the initiative.
