
A 40-year-old Chief Park Ranger with the Old Oyo National Park, Ajeiigbe Jacob, has been found dead in a forest in Tede, Oyo State, four days after he was declared missing.
Jacob’s body was discovered on Friday, August 21, 2026, in the Iyanla area of Tede, where he was reportedly found suspended from a tree with a rope.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, as authorities have commenced an investigation to establish what happened to the ranger.
A fellow forest ranger, Babatunde Abdulrasheed, was said to have alerted the Tede Police Division after locating the missing ranger inside the forest.
Following the report, police operatives led by the Divisional Crime Officer of the Tede Division visited the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigators reportedly photographed the scene before recovering Jacob’s remains from the tree.
The police are expected to investigate the events leading to Jacob’s disappearance and determine whether his death was a case of suicide or resulted from other circumstances.
Authorities are also working to establish why the ranger went into the forest and what occurred during the four days he was missing.
The deceased’s family has reportedly requested the release of his remains for burial after the initial police assessment.
Police have not disclosed further details about Jacob’s personal circumstances or any possible motive behind his death.
