A multiple road crash along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo, Ogun State, has claimed the lives of seven men and left two others severely injured.
The fatal accident occurred at about 12:03 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, and involved three vehicles — a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the incident.
Odunsi said preliminary findings indicated that speed violation was the probable cause of the crash, although investigations were still ongoing.
According to him, nine men were involved in the accident, with seven losing their lives while two others sustained injuries.
He said the FRSC Ibafo Outpost received the report at about 4:04 a.m. and arrived at the scene five minutes later.

The bodies of the deceased were evacuated from the scene by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured victims were taken for medical treatment.
The vehicles involved were later handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ibafo for further necessary action.
The FRSC commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, especially drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speed, maintain safe following distances and remain vigilant while driving.
He further advised motorists to exercise extra caution at night, noting that poor visibility and fatigue could increase the risk of road crashes.
