At least five people are feared dead following a violent clash involving rival political thugs at Naira and Kobo Garage in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
The victims reportedly include three commercial bus drivers and two passersby. The incident occurred on Monday amid an alleged struggle for control of the motor park.
A source who witnessed the incident said that the violence was connected to a wider dispute over the control of motor parks across Osun State following the recent governorship election.
According to the source, rival political groups have been involved in attempts to take control of major motor parks in towns including Ikire, Ile-Ife, Iwo and Osogbo.

The source alleged that supporters of different political interests began contesting control of the parks after the election results were announced, with Monday’s violence reportedly forming part of attempts by rival groups to reclaim some of the motor parks.
The eyewitness, however, cautioned against immediately blaming either the APC or Accord supporters for the killings, stressing that the exact identity of those responsible remained unclear.
“We cannot really say whether it was APC or Accord thugs that caused the killings, but what was certain was that they were political thugs,” the source reportedly said.
A video from the scene showed at least two bodies lying on the ground. One of the victims appeared to have sustained a gunshot injury to the head, while another body was seen lying motionless nearby.
The identities of the victims had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
The development has heightened concerns over political violence and the struggle for control of motor parks in parts of Osun State.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and determine those responsible for the reported killings.
