
A long-standing boundary dispute between two communities in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State has escalated into violence, leaving one person dead and several properties destroyed.
The incident, which occurred on July 11, involved residents of Ejingi and Kakpiyi communities. Reports indicate that suspected attackers from Kakpiyi stormed Ejingi village armed with dangerous weapons, attacking residents and setting parts of the community ablaze.
During the attack, farmlands were destroyed and at least three houses were set on fire. A 27-year-old man, identified as Muhammed Alfa, was reportedly shot and later died from injuries sustained during the assault.
Security operatives were said to have swiftly responded to the situation after receiving distress reports, helping to restore calm in the area.

The victim’s remains were taken to the General Hospital in Agaie for autopsy before being released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Authorities have confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the attack, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved.
The incident highlights the persistent tensions arising from unresolved boundary disputes in parts of the state, raising concerns over community safety and conflict resolution mechanisms.
