A series of military air operations in Niger State has reportedly resulted in the deaths of numerous suspected terrorists and disrupted their activities within parts of the state.
The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, targeted armed groups moving through Mariga Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
Security sources said the mission was launched after intelligence reports indicated that a large number of terrorists travelling on motorcycles were advancing through routes linked to the Kamuku Forest corridor.
Military aircraft were deployed to conduct surveillance across several locations, including Womba, Dogon Dawa, Kurugin, Birnin Gwari, Polewaya and Udawa. During the reconnaissance mission, air crews reportedly identified suspected terrorists moving toward forest hideouts and engaged them with precision strikes.

According to security reports, the operation successfully neutralised the targeted individuals. A post-strike assessment conducted alongside ground troops confirmed significant casualties among the armed groups.
In a related mission carried out on the same day, surveillance aircraft observed another gathering of suspected terrorists at a logistics and refuelling point. The location was believed to be serving as a support base for planned attacks and further movements.
The military subsequently launched a precision strike on the site, destroying the gathering and inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists. Security officials said the operation was executed without reports of civilian casualties or collateral damage.
Authorities noted that follow-up monitoring of the area detected no immediate signs of renewed terrorist activity, describing the operation as a major setback for criminal elements operating within the region.
