A joint security operation in Kebbi State has resulted in the death of a vigilante member and the neutralisation of four suspected bandits following a violent attack in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area.
According to security sources, the incident began when a large group of armed bandits, reportedly infiltrating from the Gumi Forest area of neighbouring Zamfara State, launched an attack on Gadar Wanda community, located on the outskirts of Danko Town.
The assailants rustled an unspecified number of livestock during the raid.
Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer swiftly mobilised a combined team of police tactical units, local vigilantes, and members of the Yansakai group to pursue the attackers.
The security operatives eventually engaged the bandits in a gun duel, during which four of the suspects were neutralised, forcing others to flee with injuries.
