The Kano State Police Command has rescued the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, after security operatives foiled a kidnapping attempt in Garun Mallam Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, when suspected bandits invaded Garun Mallam town and reportedly fired several shots into the air, throwing residents into panic.
During the attack, the gunmen abducted Nadabo, a traditional title holder in the area, while three residents sustained gunshot injuries.
The injured victims were identified as Yusif Nasiru, 20; Salisu Garba, 20; and Ibrahim Hassan, 20, all residents of Garun Mallam town.
According to the Kano State Police Command, a distress call prompted the immediate deployment of tactical teams, patrol officers and reinforcements from nearby police divisions.
The operatives, supported by local residents, vigilante members and the Neighbourhood Watch Corps, pursued the fleeing kidnappers.
The pressure from the security teams reportedly forced the suspects to abandon their captive and flee into the surrounding area.
Police said Alhaji Nadabo was successfully rescued without injuries.

The rescued traditional title holder and the three injured residents were subsequently taken to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
The police command said it has intensified confidence-building patrols within and around Garun Mallam to prevent further attacks and maintain security in the community.
A manhunt has also been launched for the fleeing suspects as security operatives work to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the security personnel for their swift response and praised residents and local security groups for their support during the rescue operation.
He urged residents to remain calm and continue providing security agencies with useful information that could assist in tracking down and arresting the perpetrators.
