
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Adegbenro Adeola, following a high-speed chase that led to the rescue of an abducted victim in Akure on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, operatives on routine patrol along the Oba-Ile axis acted on intelligence about a man shouting for help from inside a moving red Toyota Camry. The officers immediately mobilized and pursued the vehicle through the city streets.
During the chase, the suspects forced the victim, identified as Kayode Alaba, out of the moving car in a bid to evade arrest. Undeterred, the police team continued the pursuit and successfully apprehended Adeola, while other members of the gang escaped. The vehicle used in the operation was also recovered at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the victim had earlier been abducted from his residence along Irese Road in Akure before the timely police intervention. Kayode has since been rescued and is currently receiving medical attention, while the arrested suspect is cooperating with investigators and has provided useful information to aid ongoing efforts to track down the fleeing accomplices.
The case has been handed over to the Violent Crime Response Unit in Akure for further investigation. The Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible information to support security operations across the state.
