The Nigeria Police Force has commenced an investigation into the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Omowumi Isaac, over allegations of attempted murder and other serious offences.
According to official documents, the commissioner is also being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, threat to life, assault, and causing grievous bodily harm.
Her name reportedly appeared prominently in a petition submitted to the office of the Inspector-General of Police, prompting further action.
A formal invitation issued by the police directed Isaac to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for questioning. The summons, dated April 7, was signed by a senior police officer on behalf of the Inspector-General’s Monitoring Unit, indicating that the case is being handled at the highest level.
The police stated that the invitation was issued in line with provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, which empowers authorities to invite individuals connected to ongoing investigations.

The session, according to officials, is intended to clarify her role in the allegations raised in the petition.
However, the development has sparked controversy within political circles in Ondo State.
Sources claim that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is allegedly resisting the probe and has been accused of attempting to influence the process.
The governor is reportedly concerned about the implications of the investigation, although the police inquiry is said to be unrelated to state financial matters.
Despite the claims, there has been no official statement from the Ondo State Government or the Ministry of Finance addressing the situation.
It also remains uncertain whether the commissioner will honour the police invitation or pursue legal options to challenge it.
The case continues to attract public attention as it involves a high-ranking government official and raises broader concerns about accountability and the independence of law enforcement in Nigeria.
